Applications being accepted for student Global Engagement Program

The Global Engagement Program is a student opportunity offered by the International House.  In collaboration with the Career Center, the International House developed the program to provide Duke’s U.S. students with structured ways to interact with international students and scholars at the university.  Through mutual learning, students in the program develop cross-cultural communication skills to better navigate an increasingly global workplace and society.  You may have students in your courses that have completed the program in the past or who may be involved with it this academic year.

Students accepted into the program commit to participating three hours per week for one semester in a range of International House offerings.  These include the Duke Language Partner Program,  Conversation Clubs, and developing presentations on American culture for the Connect.Learn.Grow. workshop series for international students at Duke.  In addition, students participate in Global Awareness Training, career counseling and leadership development tailored especially for the program, and complete a self-reflective action plan to be more open and engaging global professionals.

If you have students that might be interested in the Global Engagement Program, you may direct them to the website or contact SangHee Jeong for more information.  The application deadline is October 22nd.

The International House also offers programs for Duke faculty and staff.  The International Skills Development Program is offered each Fall and late Spring/early Summer.  They can also help you with custom workshops and training sessions related to the needs of international students at Duke.
