Award-Winning Duke Faculty Share Teaching Ideas on Nov. 7th

Learning Innovation invites instructors new to teaching at Duke to hear from a panel of award-winning faculty as they share their teaching insights and lessons learned from their years of teaching. Registration is now open for “What I Wish I Had Known About Teaching (at Duke).”

Date: Nov. 7, 2018
Location: Perkins Library, Room 217

The panel discussion will cover teaching pedagogy and approaches, and topics including:

  • Engaging your learners
  • Effective feedback strategies
  • Inclusive teaching
  • Meeting the needs of Duke students
  • Policies and academic support resources
  • Teaching methods and techniques that work across academic disciplines

Faculty panelists will come from a variety of disciplines in the humanities, social sciences, engineering, and science. The information is particularly relevant to new faculty at Duke (those with three years or less teaching experience) but we welcome experienced faculty to attend as well to share their insights during the open Q&A/workshop time.

Participating in this event is an excellent opportunity to build connections between new and experienced faculty at Duke.  Participants will also receive a “toolkit” of teaching resources they can immediately put to use in their classes.  Registration is now open!
