It’s All Fun and Games (and Teaching)!

The creation of a Games Lab in Link Classroom 6 at Duke last year created a physical space where gaming and education have come together to support the pedagogical explorations of the Games and Culture Humanities Lab that began a few years ago. Instructors who use gaming in their courses teach in the Games Lab to take advantage of software. Workshops on game theory and game design, plus students gather monthly to play educational (and fun) games together.

  • Three workshops in September and October and November will concentrate on how to incorporate games into the classroom.
  • Game Nights will be held every month for students, faculty, and staff.
  • There will also be a series of workshops later this semester on game theory and game design to support Duke’s first entry into the Global Game Jam, a gaming creation event that will take place in January 2020. If you are interested in participating in the GGJ, contact katya.gorecki@duke.edu
