Marine Megafauna course to use iPads to access custom textbook and mapping applications

Cachalot iPad Application

Dr. David Johnston is a Research Scientist at the Duke Marine Laboratory.  He is using iPads with students in his Marine Megafauna course during the Spring, 2012 semester.  He describes the process that he expects to follow:

“We are planning to deploy our custom digital textbook application – Cachalot – on iPads for this course. This textbook provides access to all course materials for the class. We will also use the ArcGIS iPad application, the Google Earth iPad application, as well as the system applications for communications and scheduling for the class. We expect to enroll 60 students in this class. We will project the iPads onto the screen, most likely using an Apple TV wireless interface.”
