Duke’s move from Blackboard to Sakai continues with over 150 Duke faculty and instructors participating in Phase 1 of the Sakai transition. Over the past few weeks, Duke’s Sakai Team has migrated more than 1500 Blackboard courses into Sakai for Phase 1 faculty to use in their new Sakai courses this Fall. Phase 2 of the Sakai project will involve migrating an even larger portion of Blackboard courses into Sakai for the rest of the Duke community. More details on the next phase (Phase 2) will be coming soon.
In the meantime, CIT is offering a full slate of workshops and training opportunities this semester. Whether you’re working on a course for this Fall, or just curious about what Sakai is and how it works, all faculty, instructors or staff (who work with instructors on course sites) are welcome to attend. Check our Sakai training page for more details.
CIT is also offering a special extended set of Office Hours in our lab (Bostock 024) the week of August 22nd to help faculty kick-start their course development for Fall. Check our Sakai events schedule for details on specific times.
If you aren’t participating in Phase 1, you can still get a sneak peak at Sakai by visiting https://sakai.duke.edu. If you login using your Duke NetId, you can also choose to ‘join’ one of two Sakai sites that we’ve created. First, our ‘Demo’ site (DEMO Ocean 101), and second, our help site for Sakai called ‘Get Started’. To join a Sakai site, login to Sakai, click on My Workspace, and then select Membership. From there, click on Joinable Sites and find Demo Ocean 101 and/or Get Started and click ‘Join’ under either site.
