Join your colleagues as we welcome Steven G. Buzinski, PhD, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, who will present: “Think, Pair, Panic: How Socially Anxious Students Perceive Active Learning Techniques.” This presentation is part of the BRITE Ideas Teaching and Research Series.
Buzinski will discuss the basics of social anxiety, how it might influence students in our increasingly active classrooms, and present findings from three empirical studies investigating the relationship between social anxiety and students’ experience of active learning techniques. Following the talk, Buzinski will also describe how he is supporting pedagogical research at UNC-CH, sharing key teaching, research, and support initiatives.
Buzinski is Teaching Associate Professor, Associate Director of Undergraduate Studies, and Karen M. Gil Internship Director in the Department of Psychology & Neuroscience at UNC-Chapel Hill. He has also served the UNC Center for Faculty Excellence as the first Faculty-in-Residence, focused on expanding resources available to faculty and graduate students in the scholarship of teaching and learning.
Learning Innovation and BRITE Lab invite you to join us for BRITE Ideas, a monthly discussion group to share and develop research on teaching and learning. Invited guest speakers include those who have either completed or are currently engaged in research projects about teaching and learning. Please join our guest speakers and contribute to an engaged discussion to advance teaching excellence.
