David Johnston is using iPads with students in his Marine Megafauna class during the Spring 2013 semester. Each of the 52 students in the class will have an individual iPad, which he/she will use to access Cachalot, an iPad app that serves as a digital textbook for students in the class.
Students in the class will also use Google Earth and Wolfram Alpha. Through the use of these three apps, Johnston hopes to work toward answering the following questions:
- How do students use digital textbooks?
- How can we use other apps to augment in class interaction with data?
- How well do students adopt note-taking on the iPad?
