We began several small pilots and explorations in 2016-17, including the following:
Duke Extend: a new online course platform
In 2016-17, CIT and OIT partnered with Open edX vendor OpenCraft to pilot the Open edX platform to deliver open courses and online modules to both Duke and external audiences. Detailed information about the pilot can be found at https://sites.duke.edu/extendpilot. The pilot concluded successfully, and CIT and OIT agreed to continue the service at https://extend.duke.edu and add it to the ecosystem of learning technologies offered to faculty and staff.
In-video quizzing tools
CIT continued piloting in-video quizzing tool PlayPosit throughout 2016-17 with 46 active faculty or staff users who build 181 in-video quizzes known as bulbs. CIT plans to move PlayPosit out of pilot and deploy to the entire Duke Community this fall with integrations in Sakai, Shibboleth (NetID), Warpwire and Duke Extend.
